Seasonal Patio on Municipal Property and/or a Temporary Extension of a Liquor Licence Application

Our patio program is for individuals who wish to have an outdoor patio for their business on public property, as well as the temporary extension of licensed establishments.

Please note applicants are to submit their request with supporting documentation no less than 30 business days before requiring a response from the Clerk. Staff will do their best to accommodate late submissions, however a rush response is not guaranteed.

Combined indoor & outdoor dining capacity of all patios must not exceed the capacity permitted for the establishment’s washrooms as determined by the Ontario Building Code (for more information contact the building department building@southhuron.ca). Please be advised that outdoor patios will not be approved in circumstances where there are no washrooms available by the establishment for use by restaurant patrons.

A legible sketch/site plan of the proposed outdoor patio must be submitted. The sketch/site plan must include the information outlined in section 4 of the Patio Guide

Submissions will be reviewed by staff to ensure compliance with the guidelines. Should the applicant be denied approval/permits, they will be notified in writing with particulars for the refusal. The application may be reconsidered at a subsequent occasion upon the applicant addressing, to the satisfaction of the Municipality, the reasons given for the initial denial of the application.
